Drawing Exercise
I bought a new drawing book called 'Drawing Legendary MONSTERS' by Steve Beaumont. This is my version of one of the exercises drawing a dragon.

I sketched the shape in pencil (stick figure then flesh it out ).

Once I finished the shape I outlined the drawing in pen (.2mm)

The pencil lines are still showing at this stage. I kept adding detail to the dragon until I was happy. I used a (.8mm) pen  and started to ink in shadows.

Once I was happy with the finished drawing, I erased the pencil. It starts to look cleaner now and I can see the personality coming out.

I chose green and red as earthy colours and I use Derwent colouring pencils. They work well in light and heavy drawing styles.

Pen work

Close up on inking.
You can change the colours by using Adobe Photoshop and adjust the Hue. Scan the drawing, open it in Photoshop and open the Image tab.
Image-Adjustments-Hue and Saturation.
Move the slider bar and the colours will change or click on the Colorize and only change the overall colour.
Have a go at the drawing. Comment and ask for more drawings and I will see what I can do. You don't have to stick to Dragons, as I draw other creatures. Enjoy. Let me know what you think.

Scales, leather, feathers and armor cover the dragons hide. Scales are on most dragons always over the heart. Almost impregnable unless one can come up under the scale and pierce the skin. A dragon scale ground down to a fine powder can cure many ailments from tooth ache to gout. It can be boiled and made into a salve or steeped in a tea, although very bitter to taste. Red scales are good for colds and fevers, Blue for swellings and Green for infections. Purple scales can be used for infertility and Gold scales can cure nearly everything but are difficult to gain.

Lindworm was a dragon from the Norse folklore. It was said they were wingless and legless. A serpent who came from the sea. This one is 12 meters in length and is usually found in salt water. They live for 150 years and can have 7 young in this time. The males are solitary but the females and young swim in family groups.

Behold the eye of the Dragon. It sees all and sees deep. Beware the caustic tears. For they may burn through your soul. These eyes are powerful for they see what is really in a mans heart.
